Aircraft paint scheme specialists Scheme Designers is on hand this week at EAA AirVenture to showcase the 13,000 custom designs it has completed on hundreds of aircraft makes and models since launching in 1997. The company works with many OEMs to develop the liveries worn by newly launched models.
Kit manufacturer Van's Aircraft selected the company to provide the special a commemorative paint scheme for the 10,000th RV kitplane to be constructed. The aircraft, built by David Porter, is on display in the AirVenture homebuilt area along with other featured examples of the type. Scheme Designers has created more than 350 paint designs for Van's designs, including its latest efforts for this year’s "One Week Wonder," an RV-12iS that will be constructed during this week during the show. The company has created a selection of designs, which AirVenture guests and project participants will have the opportunity to vote on in the build area.
Craig Barnett, owner and chief designer of the New Jersey-based company, will host three interactive workshops at AirVenture: "Designing the Perfect Paint Scheme" on Tuesday and again on Saturday, and "Consideration in Aircraft Painting" on Thursday, during which attendees will learn how to develop designs for their own aircraft and how to select the right paint shop partner.
