Brazilian manufacturer Embraer Executive Jets has delivered its first Legacy 500 midsize business jet to an undisclosed customer in Malaysia, it announced this week at the Singapore Airshow. AIN understands that the Johor-based client is a current Embraer operator and that the deal was secured in 2017. The Legacy 500 is priced at around $20 million.

The new delivery brings Embraer’s fleet in Malaysia to four, including three light business jets—two Phenom 300s and a Phenom 100. Within Asia itself, there are 95 Embraer business jets in service across 10 countries.

Meanwhile, Embraer announced it will have a team of technicians from Hawker Pacific based in Subang Airport, Malaysia, to support growth there. The Australian company is Embraer’s longest-running authorized center in the Asia-Pacific region. Its facility at Singapore Seletar Aerospace Park is certified to service the whole range of Embraer’s business jets.

“Hawker Pacific Asia has been our executive jets authorized service center in Singapore for more than 10 years, and extending its support infrastructure for Embraer in Malaysia is a natural expansion,” an Embraer spokesperson told AIN.

“We take pride in being close to our customers, so that we can be more responsive to their needs, enhance the reliability of their aircraft, and keep them flying,” said Johann Bordais, president and CEO of the services and support division at Embraer. “This is a challenge, given our broad portfolio of business jets. But the high ratings by our customers in independent surveys affirm that we are advancing in the right direction, and we have every intention of giving our best to our customers.”

“There has been growth in Embraer’s aircraft in Malaysia recently. For now we will send our Legacy engineers there until we have opportunity for a Legacy-type course where we can train the team in Malaysia on this product,” said Louis Leong, the vice president of Asia at Hawker Pacific Asia.

Embraer has a Phenom 300, as well as a Legacy 500 and 650, on static display this week in Singapore.
