Astronics AeroSat's Flitestream T-Series satcom offers both broadband Internet and live television in a single package.

Under an agreement announced March 13 at AEA 2017, Satcom Direct will sell Astronics AeroSat’s FliteStream T-Series tail-mount airborne connectivity system through the Satcom Direct dealer network. The FliteStream T-Series has the advantage of delivering broadband Internet and live television in a single system, using the Panasonic Avionics Ku-band satellite network, instead of having to install two separate systems.

“Early recognition of the pent-up demand for comprehensive inflight connectivity was the impetus behind our FliteStream T-Series tail-mount solution,” said Astronics AeroSat president Matt Harrah. “Our collaboration with Satcom Direct expands our channel for providing FliteStream solutions to the global business aviation market.”

FliteStream includes the tail-mount unit antenna, antenna control and modem unit, low power transceiver and power amplifier unit. The antenna is designed to fit business jets from Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault, Embraer and Gulfstream, and it is designed to receive broadband data signals and Ku-band multi-region satellite television (DBS-TV).

“By incorporating the Astronics AeroSat solution with our existing robust suite of products and services, we are creating a one-stop shop for hardware and value-added services,” said Chris Moore, Satcom Direct chief commercial officer. “SD is in the unique position of offering genuinely complete solutions for the whole business jet ecosystem.”
