Aviation development company Sheltair recently acquired AvAero Services’ facilities at Florida's St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE). The facilities include two hangars, a 20,000-gallon fuel farm, ramp space and more than 20 acres of land. Sheltair invested $8 million to expand its hangar space at the airport in 2009 and has plans to continue investing there.

The two new hangars encompass 100,000 sq ft that can accommodate large-cabin aircraft. There is also 30,000 sq ft of warehouse, office and shop space. Sheltair’s acquisition allows the company to offer additional support and services such as fueling, ground handling and hangar and office leasing while expanding its network.

“Sheltair is proud of its excellent relationship with Pinellas County and the airport. We remain bullish on the long-term general aviation growth at St. Pete-Clearwater, as we believe that economic development will continue to advance in the region,” said Sheltair chairman and CEO Jerry Holland.
