Interior equipment specialist Sela is offers ceiling panel for homogeneous lighting. The “extra flat slab lighting” is designed for large-cabin business jets and its size and shape can be customized, Frédéric Relea, sales and marketing manager, told AIN.

The company uses “a highly efficient fluorescent LED source,” made of a blue LED chip with phosphor in front that yields a color rendering index of nearly 85 percent compared with the conventional 25 percent. Yellow, purple and turquoise, for example, show up much better, according to the company. The panel provides for continuous color variation.

Lumis–like other Sela lighting projects–can be controlled via Genlight, an application for passengers’ personal electronic devices such as a smartphone or iPad. Upon entering the cabin, the passenger can switch the lights on and off, change colors, access mood lighting scenarios and so on.

Sela, based in France, is also known as Bigorre Aerospace, its Florida-based subsidiary.
