An integrated class-3 electronic flight bag developed by Boeing for airliners will now be offered for retrofit in the Boeing Business Jet and BBJ2.

According to Boeing, its in-house EFB contains the reams of documentation and forms that pilots must carry with them, from Jeppesen charts and equipment manuals to minimum equipment lists and logbooks, in digital format at the crew’s fingertips. The EFB also comes with an onboard performance program that lets the pilots quickly calculate the ideal speeds and engine settings for the airplane, in any weather and on any runway with any payload.

The lightweight computers interface with the BBJ’s flight management computers, moving data between the EFBs and cockpit systems. Boeing claims its units are the only fully integrated, FAA-certified EFBs available.
