Comments are due this Thursday on a notice of proposed rulemaking that would amend FAR Part 25 airworthiness requirements for certain transport-category airplanes to require fuel tank designs that prevent a tank explosion caused by flame propagation through the tank vents from external fires. The amendment would apply to both currently manufactured and newly certified aircraft. For Part 91, 91K and 135 operations, this requirement would apply to business jets with a maximum payload of at least 7,500 pounds.
