Dallas Airmotive has reduced the engine overhaul turnaround time for select Pratt & Whitney PW206C engines in Leonardo AW109 Power helicopters from 60 days to 35 days. This 41 percent reduction is capable through smart sourcing specific engine component parts. The work still follows OEM-recommended Instructions for Continued Airworthiness and includes OEM-recommended service bulletins.
The reduced PW206C maintenance option for AW109 Powers are available at Dallas Airmotive’s facility in Dallas. Dallas Airmotive encourages operators to schedule their PW206C overhaul a minimum of 60 days in advance.
Quick-turn not only reduces downtime, but it also decreases operator costs associated with engine rental fees and decreased mission availability, the company said.
AW109 Power customers are primarily within the corporate transport, emergency medical, search-and-rescue, law enforcement and maritime and land mission industry sectors, Dallas Airmotive noted.

Meanwhile, the BBA Aviation Global Engine Services company is partnering with Florida Suncoast Helicopters and Helicopter Engine Service S.A. to offer Rolls-Royce RR300 engine services in the Florida and South American regions. The two new service providers will offer services that can be found in the RR300 engine operation and maintenance manual, while Dallas Airmotive will continue to offer heavy maintenance, repair and overhaul, component repair, and engine testing services.
