Within 14 days of delivery, the Challenger had completed 100 hours of flight that included the repatriation of dozens of patients affected by Covid-19.

Boeing delivered just six airplanes during the month of April, as monthly figures reported by the company on Tuesday for the first time reflected the full effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A total of 108 order cancellations during the month included those already announced from GE Capital Aviation Services covering sixty-nine 737 Max jets and 29 from CDB Financial Leasing, along with another 10 from unidentified customers.

As expected, Covid-19 “crushed” business aviation traffic in the U.S., Caribbean, and Canada last month, with the average daily activity for the entire month falling short of the single worst day for all of 2019, according to Argus International. Traqpak data released yesterday by the business aviation information firm showed that April flying plummeted 71.5 percent from a year ago. However, its forecast shows signs of optimism for May, which calls for a 43.9 percent year-over-year reduction.

Brussels Airlines plans to cut its workforce and network by about one quarter by the end of the year and reduce its fleet by 30 percent, from 54 to 38 aircraft, as part of a turnaround plan. The airline’s CEO, Dieter Vranckx, said it “urgently” needs to survive the current crisis and to become structurally competitive in the future.
