Industry data provider JetNet has revised its 10-year forecast downward, predicting a market for 6,362 business jets delivered by 2029 with a value of $204.4 billion.

A year ago at NBAA’s 2019 BACE, the company issued a 10-year forecast calling for deliveries of 7,050 business jets (excluding personal jets and bizliners) worth an approximate $241 billion. The rise of the Covid pandemic, and its far-reaching effects on aircraft travel as well as manufacturing, has changed those calculations.

American Airlines has begun flight trials with a Boeing 777-200 to prepare for transporting Covid-19 vaccines, the company said on Monday. The trials, begun in mid-November between Miami and South America, simulate the conditions needed to test vaccines’ thermal packaging and the handling processes needed to ensure they arrive safely at their destinations once health authorities issue their approvals.

Business aviation activity worldwide continues to be diminished by the Covid-19 pandemic but the overall dip in flights appears to be stabilizing, according to the latest data from WingX. As of November 26, the company’s Global Market Tracker showed activity during November to be 19 percent lower than the same period in 2019 and also slightly weaker than the October trend.

Airports, airlines, and slot allocation coordinators have called for waivers covering the use of slots to be extended through the end of the 2021 northern hemisphere summer season so that carriers will not be forced to give up slots they cannot use due to the continued slump in demand for flights.
