Women in Aviation International (WAI, Booth 1409) will award an estimated $650,000 in scholarships to members during its annual conference. A total of 121 scholarships are offered by WAI and seven new scholarships have been added to the list for the 2019 award year. Two of the seven added scholarships recognize an interest in space and represent the first space-related WAI scholarships to be offered to members.

“Scholarships are available for flight training, maintenance advanced training, aviation lifestyle enhancement, and academic tuition in nearly every aspect of the aviation and aerospace community,” said WAI president Peggy Chabrian. “Scholarships and WAI go hand in hand, and we have a scholarship for the widest variety of interests and aspirations.”

The seven new options available for 2019 provide WAI members the chance to apply for space engineering, space flight, air traffic control, instrument rating, multi-engine rating, CFI certificate, and private pilot entrepreneur scholarships. The deadline for the 2019 scholarships is November 12. Since 1995, WAI has awarded $11,495,581 in scholarships, with $695,000 awarded last year. Scholarships for 2019 will be awarded during WAI’s conference in March in Long Beach, California.
