Quiet Technology Aerospace (QTA) has received STC approval of its carbon-fiber engine inlet replacement barrel for the Bombardier Challenger 300/350. This offers a terminating solution to a corrosion issue involving the super-midsize jet’s aluminum inner-barrel engine inlet.
The company said it can install a complete set of inner barrel upgrades in 15 to 18 days on 300-series Challengers, greatly reducing operator downtime over alternative corrosion repairs. Its lighter-weight composite barrels also come with a lifetime warranty that remains with the aircraft’s serial number.
This also marks the fifth airframe-specific approval for QTA’s inlet barrel replacement solution, which includes those for the Bombardier Learjet 60, Gulfstream G200, Hawker 1000, and Dassault Falcon 2000EX/LX. QTA is now working on the design and certification of a similar solution for three more business aircraft types that suffer from the same inlet cowl corrosion issues.
