Aircraft Lighting International (ALI) comes to NBAA 2017 on the heels of receiving PMA approval for its L1309X LED reader, and is displaying the fixture along with many of its other lighting products at the convention (Booth C9615). The L1309X LED bulb is a direct replacement for standard incandescent bulbs, including the 1308, 1309, and 2232. The replacement requires no rewiring, new stiches, or dealing with polarity issues, said Shervin Rezaie, ALI’s general manager; simply remove the incandescent bulb and plug in the replacement.
In addition to improving cabin lighting, the replacement bulbs draw only one-tenth the power of a standard incandescent. The L1309X comes in cool or warm-color temperatures to complement existing wash-lighting system.
This is ALI’s second product line to receive PMA certification this year, following approval of its 8mm LED direct replacement wash-lighting system designed for Falcon 2000, 900 and 50 models. The 8mm LED system is self-ballasted, operating directly off an aircraft’s 28-volt DC power, bypassing an aircraft’s AL-2004 ballasts. ALI has installed the system “in countless aircraft,” said Rezaie. Requiring fewer moving parts and having a longer lifespan than the bulbs they replace, both the 8mm LED and the L1309X deliver tremendous cost savings over time, according to ALI.
