The FAA published a presentation in preparation for Thursday's rollout of five new Rnav Stars for the NorCal Metroplex around San Francisco. Four of the procedures are brand new: EMZOH1 Arrival into KOAK, OAKES1 Arrival into KOAK, RAZRR1 Arrival into KSJC and the SUUTR1 Arrival into KSMF. The fifth, the YOSEM3 Arrival into KSFO, is an update of an existing procedure.
An example of the phraseology crews should expect to hear beginning Thursday might sound like, “[Callsign], descend via the OAKES One Arrival, Runway 30 Transition, Oakland altimeter XXXX.” Pilots are expected to fly the Runway 30 transition—via TOOOL for Runways 30 and 28 L/R—as published and descend via the arrival, complying with altitudes and speeds. General aviation aircraft can expect Runway 28 assignment from NorCal Approach. ATC needs to hear the readback of the “descend via” clearance and altimeter setting for each aircraft.
Questions about any of the new procedures can be directed to NorCal Metroplex project manager Patty Daniel.
