Thomas Global Systems, a provider of design, production and support of avionic display systems technology, launched its new LCD TFD-8601 cockpit retrofit solution for regional and corporate aircraft. The plug-in LCD replacement for Rockwell Collins’ EFD-86 CRT units is designed for the Saab 340, Embraer EMB-120 Brasilia, Beechcraft King Air, Dassault Falcon, Gulfstream, Hawker and Learjet. First customer deliveries are expected to start next month.
The new TFD-8601 LCD retrofit solution addresses concerns about the lack of upgrade alternatives for legacy cockpits and component obsolescence. It offers a flexible platform that can accommodate NextGen capabilities and evolving technologies.
The retrofit unit not only generates less heat and uses less power than existing CRTs, but it is also nearly 50 percent lighter.
