Jean-Paul Béchat, former CEO of France-based engine manufacturer Snecma and later of parent company Safran, died yesterday, according to the French engine manufacturer. Béchat, who graduated from France’s prestigious Ecole Polytechnique, started his career with the group as a production engineer in 1965. He took the helm at Snecma in 1996 and led the company until 2005. Safran was then created by merging Snecma and Sagem, and Béchat headed this new group until 2007.
