Associated Air Center (AAC) has inducted the company’s first Boeing 787-8 to be completed for a head-of-state customer at its facilities at Dallas Love Field.
“The composite structure and advanced systems on the 787 require special engineering, tooling and technical capabilities; it’s a whole new ball game,” said James Colleary, president of Associated Air Center. “Our team is up for the challenge and excited to have the aircraft in our shop, where the real work now begins.”
In anticipation of the aircraft’s arrival AAC has been performing planning, staffing, training, design, engineering, manufacturing and facility construction activities. Monuments and furnishings for the interior configuration were completed ahead of the green aircraft’s arrival and are ready for installation once the supporting structure, wiring, plumbing and noise insulation have been installed.
The 787-8 offers 2,404 sq ft of cabin space and a range of 9,590 nm.
A spokesman for the company told AIN AAC plans to deliver the completed aircraft to the customer by the end of next year.
