Production Global 7500s have started arriving at Bombardier Aerospace’s Montreal facilities for completions, in anticipation of the aircraft’s service entry later this year. Meanwhile, workers at Bombardier’s completions center of excellence in Dorval, Quebec, have been building and assembling complete interior sets for the new Global, including kitchens, stateroom beds, dining furniture, and Nuage seats, since last year.
As part of the development program, interiors are validated on the ground in a test rig that replicates the conditions of flight related to airframe motions and flight loads using a production fuselage mounted on a pneumatic bed. This allowed for the validation of the interior’s fit and finish before its installation on the fourth Global 7500 flight-test vehicle. Bombardier is using this tool for the interiors installation process on production aircraft to ensure enhanced operational efficiency.
The program’s five flight-test vehicles have completed more than 2,300 flight-test hours to date. Last month, Bombardier announced that it had completed full-scale structural testing using a ground article. Full-scale fatigue testing is also on track and has already completed one lifetime of simulated flights.
