Inmarsat (Booth A18) announced here at EBACE its Ka-band Jet Connex Wi-Fi service is now available for the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) 3 via Lufthansa Technik’s Two-In-One Solution (TIOS) radome—with two antennas inside a single radome—having recently received type approval for the installation. The TIOS radome, which links to Jet Connex through Honeywell’s JetWave hardware, is already approved for the BBJ1 and BBJ2.

“Boeing VVIP and corporate customers are globe trotters that need a consistent, reliable, and global high-speed Wi-Fi solution now,” said Kurt Weidemeyer, Inmarsat v-p of business and general aviation. “Lufthansa Technik’s TIOS installation is faster, and customers are eligible for the same data plans as fuselage-mounted antenna installations.”

TIOS has been developed by Lufthansa Technik (Booth J79) to accommodate two antennas in one radome, using an innovative space-saving tail-mounted assembly that reduces drag and noise. The installation also offers reduced installation and operational costs, according to Lufthansa Technik.

The BBJ3 is the executive-configured derivative of the 737-900ER, while the BBJ1 and 2 are derived from the 737-700 and 737-800 airframes respectively.
