Astronics has purchased “the operating assets” of in-flight entertainment system and cabin management system manufacturer Custom Control Concepts (CCC). The Kent, Washington company was founded in 1998 and “has completed more than 165 technology installations to date,” according to Astronics. These include systems installed in Boeing, Airbus and Gulfstream jets and VIP helicopters.

“We are very familiar with the VVIP market through our PGA Avionics subsidiary,” said Astronics president and CEO Peter Gundermann, “and, while current market conditions are challenging, we believe the cooperative pursuits of PGA and CCC working together will provide best-in-class technology and innovation to our customers.”

Meanwhile, at this week’s Aircraft Interiors Exposition in Hamburg, Germany, PGA unveiled new products for VIP interiors, including the Slim Linear Actuator, designed with a low profile to fit in small spaces in headrests, footrests, armrests, privacy dividers, pop-up TVs, doors and so on. PGA’s new Smart Wireless Handset for passenger cabin, phone and IFE access, features wireless Qi charging and a 5.5-inch Amoled screen. Also new are PGA’s in-seat passenger control units, customizable in a variety of shapes, finishes and coatings and including power supply outlets, multimedia plugs, audio plugs and switches. PGA also announced approval by Hollywood partners for broadcasting of digital rights-managed content on portable devices.
