FlightSafety is adding helicopter training programs for the Airbus AS350 B3, Airbus EC130T2 and Bell 407GX at its new learning center adjacent to Denver International Airport, the company announced yesterday at the Airborne Law Enforcement Association Expo in Houston. These three single-engine helicopters are operated by many law enforcement and other public safety agencies.
It is currently building level-D qualified full-flight simulators for the new helicopters that will allow pilots to enhance their skill levels during autorotation, hover and night vision goggle operations, as well as effectively train for a comprehensive range of emergency situations, including inadvertent flight into IMC. Construction of the 100,000-sq-ft Denver center is scheduled to start next month and be completed in fall 2016.
“The new helicopter training programs and full flight simulators will significantly enhance the quality and effectiveness of training,” said FSI vice president of sales Steve Gross. “Operators of single-engine helicopters will be able to train for routine and emergency situations in the safe and highly effective environment of level-D qualified simulators.”
