Nebraska-based TurboPureWater is debuting its new XQ-900 ultra-pure water-rinse distillation system here at Heli-Expo. Developed to meet the needs of small operators that have but a single helicopter or a limited number of flights a day, the system produces up to 10 gallons of ISO3696-compliant distilled water a day and can store another 15 gallons, which meets the standards set by the U.S. Coast Guard as well as specifications for turbine rinses from engine makers including Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney Canada and Turbomeca.

Using water from any tap source, the system–on display at the company’s exhibit–provides consistent results, ensuring standardization regardless of location, allowing operators to meet engine warranty requirements. “This is the first low-cost system for helicopter operators worldwide,” noted company president Al Meder. “Some operators have had the unfortunate experience of discovering their warranty was in jeopardy because of the quality of the rinse water they used.” With a simple modification, the system can also be used to produce safe drinking water.
