AgustaWestland is asking the FAA to approve a special condition 30-minute all engines operating (AEO) or rated takeoff power on its new super-medium twin. The helicopter maker wants the extra power available for hovering operations during search-and-rescue missions. Current FARs allow the use of rated takeoff power for no more than five minutes (14 CFR 1.1).
