Schaumburg (Ill.) Airport (06C) is sandwiched beneath the Class B airspace just west of Chicago O’Hare and sports a single 3,800-foot runway with 100-foot overruns on each end, medium intensity runway lights, but no instrument approach. The airport is home to 120 based single-engine aircraft, 10 multi-engine aircraft and one FBO, Northwest Flyers. The FBO offers both 100LL and jet-A, as well as aircraft maintenance through the King Air 200, the FBO’s primary charter aircraft. Schaumburg is home to a 17-aircraft-strong flight school and two local TV helicopters. Skip Barchfeld, Northwest Flyers’ president said, “The municipally-owned airport is almost self sufficient operationally.”
